Effect of ZnO Nanoparticles on the Kinetics and Photo-degradation of Certain Textile Effluent Dyes

Untreated effluents especially in discharges from textiles and fabric industries, usually contain dyes. Synthetic dyes have adverse effects on all forms of life when discharged directly into the environment. This paper investigates photo-degradation a mixture direct orange 39, chlorantine fast red 5B, Viscose Black B sky blue K, present real textile effluent based influence ZnO photocatalyst dose irradiation time at specific UV power source. The experiments were conducted batch stirred photoreactor equipped with lamp rated 30 W, magnetic stirring system thermometer. used was zinc oxide nanopowder (ZnO) results showed that changes these parameters influenced efficiency photo-degradation. kinetic studies degradation followed Langmuir-Hinshelwood model has been modified to accommodate reactions occurring solid-liquid interphase. At catalyst 0.5 g/l, apparent first order rate constant, 0.00411 ; but 2.5 this reduced . best 2.0 g/l constant
